Cooking up a storm this morning. setting up for a gathering this evening. Lotsa dust bunnies being rousted out, corners being squared, and fresh linens being covered in tableware. I'm actually propped comfortably in my favorite chair net surfing and watching all this take place. Gettin' old and gimpy does have its advantages ?

Kids and I did some dusting and sweeping. I repotted a couple dozen tomato starts. This afternoon I have to go pick up another rabbit, a Californian. My list of people wanting rabbit is growing faster than I can produce babies.

Doing laundry (always! LOL) and starting some seeds. I am so late getting my seeds going this year but since my last frost date is around mid to late May (zone 5 in PA) I still have plenty of time. Also today I am being thankful for the sunshine that will, hopefully, dry up some of the mud.

A good day to stay inside. Snowing and blowing here. 35 mph winds. All is white and it is about 32 degrees. Will be doing some baking here shortly.

Not a fun day....the cutting height control dial is stuck on the tractor, so the lawn mower part cannot be lowered....this happens every year after hubby hooks up the plow....want to pull my hair out....very expensive to repair as they have to send someone from Abilene....and due to someone not having patience and cracking the knob....well, it will be a long day....

Tonight we were going to deliver a chair to someone that I was going to sell- but I figured- what the heck- they can have it- people hand me stuff I need all the time- But now it is raining so it might get put off until another night- If that is the case- I will start some laundry- and Homemade fries to go with the hotdogs- and then hopefully find some things to declutter and get some crocheting done- We transplanted about 1000 seeds yesterday at our work share and secured getting another piglet that will be ours- kept at the work share- I am trying to keep up with my new ginger bug starter and sour dough starter- and I need to remember to do my oil pulling that is all health related stuff- I also have alot of frozen fruit that I want to get out of the freezer- I may put blueberry muffins on the to do list and some homemade peach fruit roll ups- I also have about 2 dozen apples that need to be made into Applesauce- Thank goodness I am a desk worker - NOT- lol-

Here shortly I am off to go pick up another rabbit. I think this one puts us at 30. Get her home and inspect her, then into a quarantine cage away from the other rabbits for a couple of weeks, then if all is well, she is going on a blind date with Oliver, our herd sire.

Started some more seeds today. They are calling for freezing temps this weekend so I'll be carrying them in and out of the greenhouse. Hopefully this will be the end of below freezing temps!

Finishing painting in my upstairs family room and hallway. Getting ready to re-paint the boys bedroom and then maybe the girls. Not full of energy at all. The last few weeks have been hard. Just entered the third trimester with my 7'th baby. I'm the 7'th child and this is my 7'th child and I just realised that.

Just entered the third trimester with my 7'th baby. I'm the 7'th child and this is my 7'th child and I just realised that. Congrats on the upcoming baby!!!! I have been hauling heavy wetted-down seed trays to my basement from our garage (easier to wet that darn potting soil down where I don't care if it goes over). Have about 535 seeds planted from before, now have about another 400 to plant. Could not believe my back hurt Monday thru today from just carrying those things down- guess I carried them wrong. I noticed the seed germaination rate from Johnny's Selected seed (all new and organic) does NOT match Johnny's claims. Sometimes they claim 85%-90% and with perfect conditions (warm potting soil, other seeds (not Johnny's and over a year old) doing great), I am getting only 50%-55% germination. I plan to contact them with this- anyone else have that issue with Johnny's?

Washed a couple loads of laundry one of which was our sheets so got those dried and back on the bed. Went to town to pay a couple bills, went to the library to take back a puzzle I had finished and to get a new one. The library has a free puzzle exchange. Went to the grocery store to get my Easter ham and a couple other things we needed and got the soup ready for supper.

Well, these country mice went out for a ride today...to take all the tax papers to their CPA, and as they were driving along, the signs began....slow down, road work ahead, prepare to stop....AND THERE IT STOOD.....A ROBOTIC FLAGMAN.....LOL...we are so country....it was a pole with a red and yellow light on it.....and an arm with a flag that came down and stopped you from going in that lane....and we laughed and laughed....no green light, only yellow...so we went on our way....and they were the same in the opposite direction......even our tax man laughed at our story......I would prefer a real person who gets paid for their time and work, has a sweet smile, and waves me along....just old timey.... And we paid for an oval water trough and it was delivered today...over three hundred gallons...we have several thousand gallons of water stored in tanks but cannot stand to see it just run down the street...we have coffee made with rain water every morning...and the old one that sprung a leak will become a strawberry raised bed......

Well, its Friday, a wasted week of sorts for my kids and I. They were on spring break from school, I was off work all week, yet it was cold and rainy all week. Temps in 30s to low 40s all week. Last week we had 50s and 60s, next week supposed to be in the high 60s. Go figure.

Stopped at a pawn shop and saw a pair of binoculars I just fell in love with and bought them...so wonderful to see with them, you can count the spots on a butterfly... Nikon..found them on ebay this morning....retail was eleven hundred dollars and they had a bid of close to six hundred...I am pinching myself....and Hubby took the tractor down to the local car repair shop and they got the lawn mower part down on the tractor like it should be...that will save a huge bill....got the water trough set up that we bought yesterday and the old one will be filled with soil and become a strawberry bed.....our Kubota tractor is really a work horse...the garden is tilled and he tilled up a garden for a friend who is ill so they can have veggies this summer as well....

With all the rain we've been having, I think my pepper plants are drowning. I'm going to dig them up and fill their hole with some potting soil and put them back. May not help but they've already put on blooms and hate to lose them.

We had a brief "snow storm" here in Michigan. I live in the area south of Flint and north of Ann Arbor and the snow put down about a 1/4". We had finally got rid of all the winters snow a few days ago. Sure is disappointing seeing its return. Waiting for the return of the Red Winged Black Birds my sign that spring has finally arrived.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to get a little chain sawing done (downed black walnut tree that I started on before it got all snowy. The other option was getting some seeds started (I'm saving that for Sunday). DW is planning on tromping through the woods with doggie and looking for deer antlers. She'll also check some of her favorite Morel spots but it's still too early and cold for them.

I'm taking my husband out for dinner for the first time in a long while to celebrate his very positive annual review at work. I am very much looking forward to it.

Today my DH and I picked up 2 tons of 2nd cutting alfalfa to supplement my grass hay for the sheep. Our pasture is slowly growing and since we got 19% of our normal snowfall this winter, water may be in short supply. And we may not be able to irrigate pastures this summer.
Thank goodness I reduced my herd size by 50% last year. I am still several weeks from lambing (I think). And we had a high of 63 degrees today. Wow! Very warm for us this time of year. Susan

Nature Man, you should be seeing those redwinged blackbirds any time now--I'm east of Lansing and west of Detroit (if that tells you anything, LOL) and I started seeing them here last week. Then again, I got snow today too. . . Today has been an unsettling day around me; school was canceled this morning due to a 'police incident' near the school that started overnight. Ended badly mid-morning when a young man (age 20? 19? someone my 17yo dd and 20yo dd both had attended high school with) committed suicide. Small town like this, everyone is affected by it.

Cleaned the stove pipes and chimney when I got home this evening hadn't done since early January, they needed it. Snowing out right now and to get colder this weekend. My wood supply is getting low, can't remember burning so much in recent memory. I need to cut some soon. On a good note our goat Mary gave us 3 beautiful little does. My wife is just thrilled.

Really nice day here - we should be hoping for more snow and rain, but since it's nice I might as well enjoy it! I think I'll plant some things today, and finish another tote to sell up at the Park. I've got all the laundry done, but must vacuum. That will be the extent of the housekeeping! My daughter has surgery on her hand later this week, so I'm trying to think of what I can do to make things easier for her - though her kids are home and can help out. Have a great day, everyone.
